Bear Mountain Metal Art is located in Fort Collins, Colorado and is run by artist Bobby Singleton. The artwork is made by drawing a design on a cold-rolled steel sheet and using a handheld plasma cutter to cut the shape of the slice. Bobby then grinds the pattern into the aluminum, adding texture and depth, and patinas the steel to give it a gorgeous gray and copper finish. The pieces are separated by 1/8 inch using spaces to add deeper and lighter shadow effects to both layers. Bobby sealed the piece with three coats of automotive clear coat, which allows the artwork to be hung inside and out. The end result is a unique item that looks great on a wall or on a countertop. Bobby is inspired by his years of exploring the wildlife around him and the state of Colorado.

I read somewhere recently that "life is better because things end" and I couldn't agree more. Savoring a little of it, knowing that each season of life is fleeting and ever-changing. I won't lie. It was a little bittersweet to see this project come to an end; Some of my clients were happy to finally be moving into their dream home, and some were sad to let the house (and the clients!) go.
Every detail of this home has been meticulously designed, selected and cared for by me and my team; Moldings, outlet colors, HVAC grill designs, cabinet layouts, material choices, furniture pieces, paint colors, door designs, finishes...the list goes on. In most projects, you have 15% creative freedom and 85% limitations. Whether it's architecture, existing components, client taste, budget or schedule, there are always challenges that prevent designers from designing a space to their heart's content. However, the project had very few obstacles and limitations and we were able to develop and create something that we are truly proud to call Fuchsia Design.
I can't continue this post without a little praise for my customers who are so kind and trust me with all my designs and ideas. It was a pleasure to work with two people who are passionate about design and want to invest in a unique feature that makes their home stand out. I know I've shared a few photos of my project, which I call the Neckhouse (including this blog post featuring the kids' media room), but I think this is the first big look at the heart of it. A house that has consumed a portion of my design commitment over the past 15 months.

Someone recently asked me if it was cool to see this whole house come together, and it was definitely a little surreal because the end result was exactly how I envisioned it in my head. year It was fun to see the furniture come in and put in the final details, but I couldn't see anything new. It felt familiar.
I realize what a wonderful gift it is to see in a different place than before, and I'm constantly reminded of how amazing this ability is when I realize that other people can't see in this way. I like to joke that if everyone could imagine, I'd be out of a job. Fuchsia Design 3D renderings allow clients to realistically see how their home will look and feel confident in their decisions. Let's take a look back at some of the progress photos and early concept renderings that got us to where we are today.
So here's some fun facts about why there are moose in the living room. The owner is a greedy hunter. When the architect originally designed this space, the platforms were intended to house wildlife scenes with tachydermic animals. After my wife described her style to me as light, bright, and cozy, I knew these creatures wouldn't feel right in the space, but instead of saying that, I showed them. This is another beauty of 3D rendering. The vision for space and style came together, and the clients agreed that the platforms should be left bare and the animals placed in the house's man cave.
There is a powder shower off the great room and dining room. A 6-inch marble countertop, floating vessel, glass vessel sink, paneled walls, and vinyl grass wallpaper complete this room. A printed marble floor is one of my favorite details in any home. Great.
Lake House Decor Inspiration
Next to the powder bath is the main staircase. This staircase was three stories high and quite challenging. When we were involved in the project, the builder told me that the architect had specified the space for the stairs, but had not done any calculations to estimate how the stairs would fit in the space. In addition, due to the floor-to-ceiling windows, we could not attach the ladder to the wall, and the project did not include steel. They looked to our team to determine how the stairs would float in this space. After working on the construction diagram as shown below, we were able to determine how the ladder would work within the given space.
The next step was to attract customers, so we developed 3D renderings to show what it would look like.

I'm sure the decorative carpenters and painters were ready to kill me by the end of this project. They spent months cutting out all the walls of this staircase, calling each layer and painting the staircase. The artist liked to joke that he took up permanent residence and slept on the stairs at night. It turned out great though and it was all worth the hard work, easy to say. Indeed, the project would not have been possible without Paradise Builders and their wonderful assistants who put up with my detailed data gathering, specifications and site visits. I may be "special" but it all pays off in the end.

So, you are ready! The heart of this lake house. The kitchen will be another discovery. Then it's on to the master suite, craft room, children's bedroom, living room and other fun spaces. There is much more to share. Stay tuned, my friend. Having grown up on a lake, I couldn't be more excited about my new lake house! Not only did this house on the water provide us with endless memories and fun, it also gave me the opportunity to decorate another space. For the lake house, I wanted a very different vibe than the other houses. I envisioned a beachy, rattan, white and blues, vintage yacht club. While most of the house is furnished, I found lots of fun things to personalize it and make it my own!
