One person was taken to hospital following a two-car crash on a busy city road this morning (March 7).
The collision happened on Abbey Lane, A6 mid-junction with Beaumont Leys Lane in Leicester.

The front of one car appears to be badly damaged, while a second car at the scene has heavy side damage.
Abbey Lane was partially closed while the incident was dealt with, resulting in heavy traffic out of town during the Monday morning commute. Traffic on Beaumont Leys Lane is also affected.
Both cars had to be towed from the scene and the road was later reopened at 9.25am.

In January 2023, the council lowered the hedges and replaced an existing 'bear' sign. But residents argued that the project does not solve the problem.

"It's not a case of them stopping and not being able to look left and right because of fences, they just can't see the junction," said local resident Neil Hughes, adding: "It's been an ongoing battle lately Three years. .In the last one, which happened a few weeks ago, a small child was caught between the car and the wall."
In a petition launched by Neil in July 2022, he is concerned "that this will happen when a pedestrian is walking a dog, out with a child, crossing the road or cycling."
"I wouldn't be exaggerating to say there have been 15 accidents in the last three years," Neil told CheshireLive. "There are so many where cars are traveling a little slower, realize there is an intersection at the last minute and start to break.
"There is not enough warning, the paint on the road is not up to scratch, and the speed of people is a problem. I truly believe that if we have the advanced 100 yard warning and drivers are more aware of the speed limit, it would prevent accidents on it the hub".

Local MP Justin Manders confirmed that he fully supports the work being carried out as soon as possible.
Councilor Karen Shore, deputy leader of the council and cabinet member for environment, highways and transport, said: “Our highways engineer met with Mr Hughes at the end of December last year.
"Since the meeting we have been in contact with Cheshire Police and are awaiting a detailed report on the cause of the accident, but in the meantime the hedges have been trimmed to improve visibility, an existing give way sign has been replaced and other minor improvements requested. By Mr. Hughes.
"Now that we have a new highway contractor, they have been asked to provide a quote for additional signage at the junction."

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At 12.29pm on Saturday June 3, police were called to reports of a collision in Parkland Drive, Elton. Officers attended and found the incident involved a green Ford Fiesta and A silver Vauxhall Corsa.
"One of the transformed people also collided with a brick wall and a 4-year-old child was also pushed out of the way, barely avoiding being hit by the car. The boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but did not suffer any serious injuries.
